Samsung Electronics’ Device Experience (DX) division has established a new organization to proactively address the rapid changes in the artificial intelligence (AI) era and to maximize execution through seamless collaboration within the division.

According to industry sources on Monday, Samsung Electronics’ DX division announced the creation of the InnoX Lab, which will focus on tackling high-priority, complex tasks.

The term InnoX combines Innovation and Transformation, underscoring the commitment to spearhead innovation and change.

InnoX Lab is an action-oriented unit dedicated to delivering tangible results quickly by managing large-scale, company-wide projects and challenging strategic initiatives from various business units.

The lab will recruit talent with the necessary skills across organizational boundaries, consolidating the DX division’s core competencies through a task-centered collaborative system.

Key initiatives include: implementing and expanding Digital Twin solutions, revolutionizing logistics operations through AI, advancing manufacturing automation with physical AI technology, and developing core technologies for humanoid robots.

Samsung Electronics’ DX division aims to differentiate itself from competitors by integrating AI into its products, including home appliances and mobile devices. The company also plans to boost productivity and competitiveness by applying AI broadly across manufacturing and operations, not just in its products.

Humanoid robots represent a new venture that Samsung Electronics is pursuing as a future growth engine. Following the acquisition of robotics specialist Rainbow Robotics, Samsung Electronics established the Future Robot Promotion Team directly under the Chief Exectuive Officer (CEO) to focus on developing advanced robotic technologies, including humanoids.

Roh Tae-moon, the acting head of the DX division, recently emailed team members emphasizing the need to secure future competitiveness by integrating new technologies such as AI, robotics, and digital twins. He encouraged staff to revamp existing work processes and to foster an efficient, agile organizational culture.
