North Korean leader Kim Jong Un visited the construction site of the Sinuiju Greenhouse Complex, providing on-the-spot guidance for the ongoing project.

On Friday, the Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported that the General Secretary had inspected the previous day’s construction and regional development efforts at the Sinuiju Greenhouse Complex. He was accompanied by key party officials, including Jo Yong-won, Pak Jong-chon, and Kim Jae-ryong.

Kim conducted a comprehensive tour of various areas of the construction site, including the glass greenhouse zone and the vegetable research center, to thoroughly assess the project’s progress.

Expressing his satisfaction, Kim remarked that the strength of our military and youth is truly extraordinary. With noting that just a year ago, this area was deemed wasteland due to frequent floods; now, it has been transformed into a treasure island with immense potential to drive rapid local economic growth and elevate the living standards of its residents.

He added that this regional transformation reinforces his conviction that within the next 10 to 20 years, it can turn every part of the country into the ideal utopia for the people.

After reviewing the construction status and future development plans, Kim emphasized that the progress of local regions represents the nation’s advancement. Further noting that the ideal characteristics of these areas should embody the true spirit of socialist Korea, and this is the core principle of the party’s regional development policy.

Kim also stressed that the design sector must prioritize both functionality and modernity in architectural plans, while taking into account economic efficiency and practicality, urging efforts to achieve optimal outcomes.

The leader outlined specific tasks for the successful completion of the greenhouse complex, including the adoption of advanced information technology and automation in farm management, treating environmental remediation as a key performance indicator, and ensuring both aesthetic and scientific landscaping in the levee reinforcement zones.

The newspaper noted that Kim expressed confidence in the military builders and youth shock troops, anticipating that their unique revolutionary spirit and determination would lead to remarkable construction achievements to be showcased at the party’s 9th Congress.

The Sinuiju Greenhouse Farm, which began construction in February, spans an area 1.5 times the size of Yeouido and is reportedly North Korea’s largest greenhouse facility. This marks Kim’s second visit to the site this year and his fourth major greenhouse project since assuming power.
