President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he plans to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Gyeongju. He expressed optimism about reaching a fair trade agreement.

During a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the White House in Washington, D.C., Trump addressed questions about U.S.-China trade negotiations. He stated that in about two weeks, they’ll be meeting in South Korea to discuss potential actions.

Trump touted his administration’s success in securing fair trade deals with the European Union (EU) and Japan. He added that they’ve also struck a very fair agreement with South Korea, which happens to be the country where he’ll be meeting with President Xi.

The President emphasized that he’s expecting to negotiate a very fair deal with President Xi as well.

Trump concluded by saying that these negotiations will be quite exciting, and he believes it can achieve outcomes that benefit both nations.
