The party’s official newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, featured a front-page article on December 20 title, Marching Forward with Greater Momentum Towards the 9th Party Congress. The piece declared that the upcoming congress would establish a pivotal moment in bolstering the party’s strength and development, while amplifying the momentum towards comprehensive progress in socialist construction.
The article further exhorted citizens to intensify their bold and aggressive efforts, urging them to advance vigorously into a new phase of transformation.
Page 2 spotlighted the new local industrial factory in Changyon County, which General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited on December 18. The newspaper reported that the people of Changyon County, with hearts full of boundless gratitude towards the mother party, would dedicate all their wisdom and passion to repay the regime by working towards an even more transformed hometown.
The third page emphasized the importance of noble character among officials, asserting that they should earn public respect and recognition through their virtuous qualities rather than their positions or titles. It stressed the need for continuous moral and spiritual cultivation. The article also cautioned against mediocrity, underscoring the necessity of deeply understanding the party’s intentions and engaging in the struggle for socialist development with fair and accurate assessments.
Page 4 highlighted the Gangwon spirit, asserting that citizens in every province should emulate the extraordinary patriotic fervor of Gangwon’s role models and engage in bold, unrelenting struggles. The newspaper also emphasized that scientific farming is key to next year’s agricultural preparations.
On the fifth page, it was reported that the Dancheon Mushroom Factory has expanded production through improved cultivation techniques. Jagang Province is preparing for next year’s rice paddy fish farming, while Yanggang Province has established over 700 acres (approximately 283 hectares) of new pine forests this year.
The sixth page showcased agricultural innovations, including an effective herbicide developed by the Agricultural Science Academy’s research institute and a composite microbial treatment from the Wirim Agricultural Technology Product Production Center. The National Academy of Sciences’ Physics Research Institute was also credited with developing an analyzer for the metal industry, enabling resource conservation and increased iron production.
