The government announced on January 9 that no significant developments have been observed yet regarding North Korea’s 9th Workers’ Party Congress, scheduled for January or February.

During a regular press briefing, Deputy Spokesperson Jung Yoon-jung responded to a question about whether high-ranking officials from North Korea’s allied countries are expected to attend the congress.

Jung stated that she understands that relevant agencies have reported on preparations for a military parade related to the 9th Party Congress. She added that it will closely monitor whether Kim Jong Un’s title of General Secretary will be elevated to that of Chairman.

According to military sources, North Korea is preparing a military parade involving over 15,000 troops in conjunction with the 9th Party Congress.

Analysts anticipate that the congress will establish new policies across various sectors, including foreign initiatives to be implemented from this year until 2030. It is also expected to further elaborate on the Kim regime’s Five Major Party Construction Lines for a New Era (encompassing politics, organization, ideology, discipline, and work style).

Previously, during the 80th anniversary celebration of the party’s founding last October, Kim emphasized the need for rapid transformation, stating that it must change every field, every sector, and every region at a much faster pace within the next decade through bold efforts and dedicated struggles. He also outlined five strategic directions aimed at achieving goals by 2035.
