NorthKoreaChina Urges Political Resolution After North Korea's Latest Missile Launch: What’s Next for Regional Stability?

China emphasized that North Korea should maintain a focus on political solutions following its ballistic missile launches into the East Sea.

During a regular press briefing on Wednesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun addressed North Korea’s recent missile tests, stating that they’re aware that the involved parties have differing interpretations of the nature of these projectiles.

Guo further remarked that it urges all parties to recognize the root causes of the Korean Peninsula issue and adhere to the broader goal of political resolution while working towards regional peace and stability.

North Korea fired several short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) into the East Sea on Tuesday afternoon, coinciding with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Indo-Pacific Security Affairs Elbridge Colby’s tour of Asia. This latest provocation marks North Korea’s second missile test this year and comes 23 days after their previous launch on January 4.
