China and Russia have sent congratulatory messages to North Korea’s 9th Party Congress, reaffirming their strategic alliances with the hermit kingdom.
On Friday, North Korea’s ruling party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, reported that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China had sent a congratulatory letter for the 9th Party Congress. The letter stated that on behalf of the Communist Party of China and the Chinese people, it extends its warmest congratulations on the successful convening of the 9th Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea. It further expressed that it wishes the Korean people greater achievements in socialist construction under the leadership of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, headed by General Secretary Kim Jong Un.
The Chinese side also emphasized that China-North Korea relations have entered a new historical phase in recent years, guided by the strategic leadership of both countries’ top officials. They expressed willingness to deepen exchanges on party and state management experiences to jointly foster healthy and stable development of China-North Korea relations. This message is interpreted as a commitment to continue and strengthen party-to-party exchanges and strategic cooperation between North Korea and China during the Congress.
Russia also sent congratulatory messages. Dmitry Medvedev, chairman of Russia’s ruling party United Russia, stated in a message to Kim that the decisions adopted at the Congress would invigorate the continuous and multifaceted development of North Korea.
Medvedev noted that the strategic partnership between Russia and North Korea is rooted in a long-standing tradition of friendship and cooperation. He added that both countries are firmly resisting external pressures while ensuring stability and security in the Asia-Pacific region. This statement reflects the recent trend of strengthening military and political cooperation between North Korea and Russia.
As North Korea and its allies emphasize socialist solidarity and strategic partnerships, analysts suggest it will be crucial to observe what messages emerge regarding future foreign policies and cooperation frameworks during this Congress.
