As concerns mount over potential U.S. strikes against Iran, the U.S. Embassy in Iran has advised American citizens currently in the country to consider leaving while commercial flights are still available.

In a notice posted on its website on Sunday, the embassy warned that if the situation deteriorates rapidly, commercial flight operations may be suspended.

The embassy reminded citizens that a Level 3 travel advisory (red alert) is currently in effect for all regions of Iran. It urged those in the country to depart promptly unless they have urgent business, and advised travelers to cancel or postpone any planned trips to Iran.

On Friday, when asked by reporters at the White House about considering limited strikes to pressure Iran, President Donald Trump responded that the administration was considering it.
