GS Engineering & Construction held an executive workshop at the Yongin Elysian Learning Center to discuss innovative field solutions using Physical Artificial Intelligence (AI), the company announced on Thursday.
The workshop brought together over 110 executives from GS Engineering & Construction and its subsidiaries, including Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Heo Yoon-hong. Participants focused on brainstorming ideas and implementation strategies for field innovation through Physical AI.
The event featured presentations by external experts and internal sharing sessions. Discussions covered cutting-edge technological trends, with lectures on topics such as Leadership in the AI Era and Applying Physical AI and Robotics in Industrial Settings. Executives also explored strategies for structuring data to enable AI applications in the construction industry.
Following the presentations, executives divided into four groups based on their roles for focused discussions. One group analyzed priority tasks for robot deployment and potential benefits, while another examined real-world application scenarios. Business and support teams strategized on design and bidding processes, as well as organizational structures post-robotics implementation.
GS Engineering & Construction continues to expand its AI-driven innovations. The company has introduced several AI-powered tools, including Xi Voice, an AI translation program to facilitate communication with foreign workers; Xi-Book, which provides over 5,000 pages of standard specifications; and an AI-based design review system. These initiatives aim to enhance on-site safety and quality.
Looking ahead, the company plans to develop an integrated operational system combining sensors, data, and robotics across all processes, from construction and transportation to measurement, patrolling, and inspection. GS Engineering & Construction also intends to invest in robotics startups to foster business synergies.
CEO Heo expressed optimism about the workshop’s outcomes, stating that it expects these discussions to translate into tangible actions on-site and drive real change throughout the organization. By focusing on Physical AI, it aims to drive field innovations that will strengthen the company’s competitive edge.
