Samsung Display has unveiled Quantum Black, a low-reflective, high-strength film designed to reduce light reflection on monitors while improving display durability.

Quantum Black reduces light reflection on monitor screens by an additional 20% compared to existing films while boosting panel hardness to 3H.

QD-OLED technology can achieve true black by completely shutting off pixel power, but bright ambient lighting can interfere with this effect through screen reflections. Deep black rendering is a critical specification for gaming monitors, making reflection control a key development priority.

Quantum Black cuts reflection rates a further 20% beyond previous film technologies. Internal tests show that QD-OLED panels using Quantum Black improve in hardness from 2H to 3H, a rating strong enough to resist fingernail scratches.

Senior vice president and head of strategic marketing for the Large Display Business, said Quantum Black amplifies QD-OLED’s core advantage of deep black representation while also strengthening panel durability. He added that the technology reflects the company’s commitment to advancing user experiences in both gaming and content environments.
