On Thursday, the Blue House issued a statement regarding President Donald Trump’s address to the nation. The government is closely monitoring key developments in countries involved in the Middle East conflict and hopes for a swift return to peace and stability in the region.

Blue House Chief Spokesperson Kang Yu-jung conveyed this position during a written press briefing in the afternoon.

She further stated that the government will actively collaborate with the international community to ensure the safety of Korean citizens and businesses in the Middle East, stabilize energy supply chains, and resume free maritime transport routes.

On the same day, President Trump delivered a significant speech, announcing that the U.S. would launch powerful strikes against Iran over the next 2 to 3 weeks. This message stands in stark contrast to his earlier remarks suggesting an imminent withdrawal, which had raised hopes for a resolution to the conflict.

The President warned that if negotiations fail, the U.S. could target all of Iran’s power plants and might strike oil facilities, which he described as the easiest targets, to eliminate Iran’s potential for reconstruction.

The Blue House has indicated that, given the unchanged situation in the Middle East, it will maintain its existing emergency response protocols and continue to manage the energy supply situation accordingly.
