CJ Logistics announced on Friday that its Self-Adhesive Air Cap, developed by the TES Logistics Technology Institute, has won the Korea Packaging Federation Chairman’s Award at the 20th Korea Star Awards.
The Korea Star Awards, a premier event in the packaging industry, is hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and organized by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. This year’s ceremony was held on Tuesday at KINTEX in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province.
The innovative product features a self-adhesive functional material called “Cling Agent,” which enables the air cap surfaces to adhere naturally upon contact. This eliminates the need for separate tape or adhesives, streamlining the packaging process and boosting operational efficiency.
Furthermore, the design incorporates perforations spaced approximately 16 to 31 inches apart, enabling easy tearing without a utility knife and enhancing worker safety.
Environmental sustainability is another key advantage. While traditional air caps often end up in general waste due to the hassle of tape removal, the Self-Adhesive Air Cap requires no tape, making it easier to recycle. The adhesive properties also allow for reuse up to five times.
A CJ Logistics spokesperson said the Self-Adhesive Air Cap is made from eco-friendly materials that are safe for human contact, adding that reducing tape usage also helps reduce plastic waste. The spokesperson added that the company plans to expand its application to global clients’ packaging needs, further strengthening its technological competitiveness.
