
North Korea reaffirmed its friendly ties with fellow socialist nations following Nguyen Phu Trong’s election as Vietnam’s President.
The Rodong Sinmun, the Workers’ Party’s official newspaper, reported on its front page on Wednesday that Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers’ Party, had sent a congratulatory message to President Trong. Kim expressed confidence that their traditional friendship and cooperation would continue to strengthen and develop. Trong received unanimous approval from Vietnam’s National Assembly on Tuesday for his presidential role. Kim viewed this as a strong vote of confidence from Vietnam’s party and people. He also recalled their summit in Pyongyang last year, reiterating his commitment to furthering bilateral relations.
On page 2, the newspaper emphasized national unity as the state’s absolute strength, underscoring solidarity as crucial for regime stability. It claimed that despite severe challenges, North Korea’s political stability remained intact, asserting that unwavering public support guarantees the nation’s existence and power.
The third page covered plenary meetings of various party committees, including those from the Ministries of Railways, Land and Maritime Transport, the Pyongyang Construction Committee, National Academy of Sciences, and Ministries of Culture and Sports. These meetings adopted resolutions to implement tasks outlined in recent policy speeches, emphasizing qualitative improvements across logistics, construction, science and technology, culture, and sports, while also focusing on executing the five-year plan.
Page 4 spotlighted the Sanggye Cement Industrial Complex, showcasing efforts to boost production. The paper detailed specific measures such as expediting equipment repairs and enhancing processes, stressing that determination knows no bounds.
The fifth page introduced the second forest restoration project, promoting a nationwide movement for reforestation. This initiative was framed as a patriotic endeavor, with the paper emphasizing the need for public engagement and education, citing model forest families as examples.
