The Japanese government reported on April 19 that multiple missiles launched by North Korea into the Sea of Japan likely fell outside Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).

Japanese media outlets, including TBS, stated that the Ministry of Defense detected the launch of several missiles, possibly ballistic, but no damage to Japanese vessels has been reported thus far.

Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi directed relevant agencies to maintain high alert and readiness for any potential developments. The Defense Ministry is actively gathering intelligence on these latest missile launches.

Earlier, South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff announced the detection of multiple unidentified ballistic missiles around 6:10 a.m. (South Korean time), launched from the Sinpo area in South Hamgyong Province, known for its submarine base.

This marks North Korea’s seventh missile provocation this year, coming 11 days after the dual launches on April 8.
