North Korea launched a ballistic missile toward the East Sea on April 19, according to military officials.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) issued an alert at approximately 6:17 a.m. (South Korean time), confirming that North Korea had fired an unidentified ballistic missile eastward.

This latest show of force comes just 11 days after Pyongyang’s previous missile launch into the East Sea on April 8.

In that earlier incident, North Korea fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles (SRBMs) from the Wonsan area in South Hamgyong Province. Those projectiles traveled roughly 240 km (about 149 miles) before splashing down.

Later that same day, the regime launched another SRBM that reportedly flew over 700 km (about 435 miles), demonstrating increased range capabilities.

It’s worth noting that on April 7, North Korea attempted to fire an unidentified projectile, but the launch appeared to fail shortly after liftoff, with the missile disappearing from radar.
