Samsung Electronics is expanding its foldable smartphone lineup beyond the familiar Fold and Flip models with a new form factor. At the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event in July, the tech giant is set to unveil a novel foldable device that bridges the gap between its existing products, signaling a broader range of options for consumers.

On Wednesday, Samsung teased its next-generation foldable smartphone through a video released on its global Instagram and YouTube channels.

The intriguing teaser featured scenes of a long chocolate bar being snapped and sticker photos being torn, hinting at a fresh screen ratio and form factor that diverges from the current Fold and Flip designs. While Samsung kept the product name under wraps, the video clearly suggested the imminent arrival of a groundbreaking foldable device.

Industry insiders expect this new offering to occupy a sweet spot between the large-screen Galaxy Z Fold and the compact Galaxy Z Flip. This strategic move aims to cater to consumers seeking an optimal balance of display size and portability, effectively broadening Samsung’s foldable portfolio.

The company emphasized that this lineup expansion draws on seven generations’ worth of foldable technology development and in-depth user experience analysis.

While the existing Fold series champions large-screen productivity and the Flip line excels in compact portability, the addition of a new form factor promises to deliver an even more diverse user experience.

A Samsung spokesperson stated that this isn’t just about increasing the product count. They’re leveraging seven generations of technological prowess and user insights to elevate the foldable experience for the artificial intelligence (AI) era. Its upcoming offerings will provide wider, more intuitive, and more immersive experiences than ever before.
