Emirates Airlines is set to become the world’s first carrier to introduce a multi-directional adjustable U-Dream headrest in its economy class. This innovative device is designed to provide stable support for passengers’ heads and necks during long-haul flights, significantly enhancing comfort for sleep and relaxation.

According to Emirates Airlines on Wednesday, the U-Dream headrest will be gradually implemented across all A350 aircraft, as well as in most economy class seats on A380 and Boeing 777 models.

The U-Dream features a unique structure with foldable and expandable side supports, offering stable head and neck support. Its adjustable height and angle help minimize discomfort caused by forward head tilt or sideways leaning during flights. The headrest has successfully passed rigorous testing and validation in compliance with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) safety standards.

Currently, the U-Dream is operational on three A350 aircraft, with plans to expand its use to all A350 models by year-end. The headrest will come as standard equipment on the ordered Boeing 777X aircraft. Starting in 2027, it will be progressively installed on refurbished A380 and Boeing 777 models.

Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, commented that they’ve introduced the U-Dream to enhance the comfort of the economy class passengers on long-haul flights. This innovation underscores the ongoing commitment to investing in and improving the customer experience.
