LifestyleJames Harden Signs 97 Million USD Deal with Cleveland Cavaliers: What This Means for His Legacy

Former National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) James Harden, 38, has inked a new deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

ESPN and other media outlets reported on Friday that the free agent guard agreed to a three-year, 97 million USD contract with Cleveland.

If Harden completes the full term of his contract, he’ll become the third player to join the exclusive 500 million USD career earnings club, following LeBron James (Philadelphia 76ers) and Kevin Durant (Houston Rockets).

Moreover, Harden is now the second player in NBA history, after James, to secure a guaranteed contract worth over 90 million USD at age 37 or older.

James Harden has been a standout NBA star, showcasing his skills with teams like the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Brooklyn Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, and LA Clippers.

His illustrious career includes winning the 2018 NBA regular-season MVP with Houston, three scoring titles, two assist titles, and 11 All-Star selections.

Despite these accolades, an NBA championship ring has eluded him thus far.

Harden joined the Cavaliers in February via a trade involving Darius Garland. Since then, he’s defied age expectations, propelling the team to the Eastern Conference Finals.

With this new contract, Harden and the Cavaliers are setting their sights on an NBA title in the upcoming season.
