Actress Park So Dam has expressed her heartfelt appreciation for director Bong Joon-ho’s enthusiastic agreement to participate in the Guest Visit (GV) for the film Gyeongju Journey.
During an interview with News1 on Thursday at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, Park shared her delight about Bong’s decision to attend the event. When she asked if he could join, he immediately said, If Mungwang and Gijeong are involved, I absolutely have to be there! He agreed without hesitation, Park revealed.
It’s been reported that Bong’s attendance at the Gyeongju Journey GV was arranged at Park’s personal request.
Park continued that the director is often out of the country, so she’s incredibly grateful that the timing worked out perfectly. She’s not sure, but he might have rearranged his schedule to make it happen. He told her, If Mungwang and Gijeong are there, I’ve got to go. Recently, he even watched Mungchi on the Road, where she did some voice acting. He sent her a photo of her character Bam-i, praising the directors for their excellent work. He’s been so supportive, monitoring everything and keeping in touch.
Park then affectionately described Bong, saying that he’s truly warm-hearted. That’s the essence of Director Bong.
Gyeongju Journey is a family revenge thriller about four mothers who embark on a killer trip after an eight-year wait for their youngest daughter, Gyeongju, who never returned from a school excursion. This marks the commercial debut of director Kim Mi-jo, who gained critical acclaim for her directorial prowess with her first film Seagull at various international film festivals. Even before its release, Gyeongju Journey has already made waves, receiving an invitation to the Hawaii International Film Festival and clinching the Audience Award at the Florence Korean Film Festival.
In this film, Park So Dam portrays Young-joo, the second daughter, a character driven by logic and meticulous planning rather than emotions.
Gyeongju Journey is set to hit theaters on August 26.
