The lyrics of a new song by the group Cortis have sparked controversy, prompting singer Hanroro, who was mentioned in the track, to address the situation.

On Monday, Hanroro took to a fan platform to share that thanks to numerous messages from fans, she has received the song and heartfelt words from the Cortis members.

He continued that she has witnessed the members enjoying and singing along to “0+0.” As a fan, she’s been deeply invested in Cortis since their debut, often marveling at their creativity and commanding stage presence.

Hanroro added that what could be more meaningful than musicians connecting through their art and touching each other’s hearts? That’s why she’s choosing to interpret the mention in their new song positively.

He further reflected that she believes that “0+0,” which resonates with both myself and the Cortis members, will serve as a reminder of this moment of mutual respect, as it’s referenced in “MONEYMONEYMONEY.” However, she hopes that fans who have closely followed the creation of “0+0” won’t be too disheartened by this incident.

Previously, on August 22, Cortis surprised fans with a performance of their new track “MONEYMONEYMONEY” at the Put Your Phone Down Birthday Party. The song, collaboratively written and composed by all members, was officially released on Monday.

The controversial lyrics include: “I wanna be like Pororo, making money while having fun / Adding zeros to my bank account, just like Hanroro / They said I’d lose my edge, but everyone’s slurping it up.” These lines quickly became a hot topic online.

Hanroro’s song “0+0” is an anthem of youth solidarity, expressing a vow to never abandon one another and a determination to persevere.

Netizens criticized Cortis for seemingly trivializing the meaningful message of “0+0” by using it as a money-flaunting reference. They also accused the group of name-dropping Hanroro merely for the sake of rhyming with “Pororo” and “slurping,” viewing it as disrespectful to both the artist and his work.

In response, Cortis member Geonho posted on Monday, “Shout out to our senior, Hanroro. Since I’ve recently taken up reading as a hobby, I find myself more deeply moved by your songs now than when I first heard them. I gave you a shout-out in our new track, but I wanted to express my respect once more through this post. I hope this message reaches you.”
