Song Kang and Kim So Hyun are set to reunite in “White Scandal,” a new drama that promises to deliver a captivating romance built on a fake relationship.

MBC’s upcoming Friday-Saturday drama “White Scandal” (penned by Kim Ga-eun and helmed by Kim Cheol-kyu) is an adaptation of a popular webtoon. The story follows Han Yi-hyuk, a reluctant third-generation chaebol heir, and Ji Eun-seol, a former child star whose career has taken a nosedive. The pair embark on a fake romance to deceive the public, but as they navigate their charade, they begin to confront their hidden emotional scars in a journey of mutual healing and unexpected love.

This project marks a highly anticipated reunion for Song Kang and Kim So Hyun, who previously starred together in the 2021 Netflix hit “Love Alarm.” Fans are eager to see how their on-screen chemistry has evolved, as they transition from portraying young, innocent love to more complex characters grappling with personal demons.

Song Kang takes on the role of Han Yi-hyuk, a top actor with a secret chaebol lineage. Born as the black sheep of a wealthy family, Yi-hyuk has spent his life trying to meet his grandfather’s exacting standards. Now, he’s caught between his public persona as a beloved celebrity and his private identity as a potential chaebol heir. In a bid to escape the cutthroat world of corporate succession, he initiates a fake relationship with former child actress Ji Eun-seol (played by Kim So Hyun).

Kim So Hyun portrays Ji Eun-seol, a once-promising child star whose career was derailed by a mysterious incident. Unable to let go of her acting aspirations, Eun-seol now works behind the scenes as a manager. Her world is turned upside down when she crosses paths with Han Yi-hyuk again, forcing her to confront long-buried secrets from their shared past.

Song Kang, who burst onto the scene in 2017 with tvN’s “The Liar and His Lover,” has quickly become one of Korea’s most sought-after young actors. His impressive resume includes standout performances in “Love Alarm,” “Sweet Home,” “Navillera,” “Nevertheless,” “Forecasting Love and Weather,” and most recently, “My Demon.”

Kim So Hyun, a veteran of the industry despite her young age, made her acting debut in 2008 with the KBS 2TV drama “Baby, Let’s Go to Cheong Mountain.” She has since built a stellar career with roles in acclaimed productions such as “Moon Embracing the Sun,” “I Miss You,” “I Hear Your Voice,” “Ruler: Master of the Mask,” “Love Alarm,” “The Tale of Nokdu,” “River Where the Moon Rises,” “Unforgettable,” “Is This Fate?” and “Good Boy.”

With Song Kang and Kim So Hyun’s casting now confirmed, “White Scandal” is set to begin production in the near future, generating significant buzz among K-drama enthusiasts.
