K-pop sensation ZEROBASEONE has solidified their popularity in Japan by securing two top spots on the prestigious Oricon weekly charts.
Oricon reported on Wednesday that ZEROBASEONE’s second Japanese extended play (EP), “Kaegeu Love” (回帰LOVE), claimed the number one position on the weekly combined album ranking for the week ending August 31. The group consists of members Seong Han-bin, Kim Ji-woong, Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, and Park Geon-wook.
This achievement follows their previous success on the Oricon weekly album chart, demonstrating their growing dominance in the Japanese music scene. “Kaegeu Love” also made waves by topping the Oricon daily album ranking for four consecutive days upon release. The EP further swept the charts, reaching number one on both the Tower Records overall album chart and the Billboard Japan Top Album Sales chart.
In their latest Japanese offering, released after a 10-month hiatus, ZEROBASEONE collaborated with members of the popular local band Omoinotake for their title track “Existence” (イグジステンス). The song showcases the group’s evolving artistry, featuring a more nuanced emotional depth and an expanded musical range, which has been met with enthusiastic fan reception.
ZEROBASEONE, formed through Mnet’s survival show “Boys Planet,” made their debut in 2023. Following the conclusion of their initial team contract after a concert in March, the group has relaunched with five members: Seok Matthew, Kim Tae-rae, Seong Han-bin, Park Geon-wook, and Kim Ji-woong.
