Exploring the Future: Ondo Perps CEO Discusses U.S. Market Entry for Perpetual Futures

0

Perpetual futures exchange Ondo Perps has expressed optimism about entering the U.S. market. However, they noted that their U.S. services would differ from their current platform for international users.

The Block reported on Tuesday that Ondo Perps Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David Wells views the U.S. perpetual futures market as a significant opportunity, stating that exploring market entry is a logical step.

Wells highlighted emerging opportunities that were previously unfeasible. He added that the U.S. perpetual futures market structure differs slightly from other countries, necessitating careful observation of its development.

These remarks come as U.S. regulators explore ways to introduce perpetual futures products domestically.

Last month, President Donald Trump mentioned efforts to legally introduce hyperliquidity to the U.S.

Earlier this month, decentralized exchange Ondo Finance submitted a statement to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), arguing that U.S. stock-based perpetual futures should fall under the existing securities futures classification.

Wells expects the structure of perpetual futures contracts in the U.S. to remain largely similar. However, he emphasized that settlement and clearing methods must adapt to comply with U.S. regulations.

Despite these discussions, plans to enter the U.S. market are not yet finalized. Wells clarified that they haven’t deeply considered U.S. market entry at this stage.
