Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook’s parent company Meta, which is seeing a surge in its stock price amid the recent AI boom, is set to visit Asia this week. His stops include Korea, Japan, and India. Bloomberg reported on the 26th that he is scheduled to meet with Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae Yong, and LG Electronics CEO Cho Joo Wan during his visit on the 28th.
Zuckerberg plans to discuss the joint development of an augmented reality headset during his meeting with industry leaders such as Chairman Lee Jae Yong.
Meta and Samsung Electronics have previously collaborated on the development of a virtual reality headset. Zuckerberg was a special guest at Samsung Electronics’ unpacking event in 2016, where he gave a speech on the headset.
Zuckerberg is significantly ramping up his investment in AI. He stated that “approximately 350,000 dedicated AI chips are needed for building our own AI by the end of 2024,” indicating his commitment to a massive investment in AI.
As a result, the stock price is rallying daily, breaking through a market cap of 1 trillion dollars. As of the 23rd, Meta’s market cap is 1.234 trillion dollars, ranking sixth after Microsoft, Apple, Nvidia, Amazon, and Alphabet.
After his visit to Seoul, he is scheduled to move to Jamnagar in the western Indian state of Gujarat and attend the wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son, the richest man in Asia.
