The son of Major League Baseball (MLB) Hall of Famer Craig Biggio, Cavan Biggio is slated to start immediately after his transfer to the LA Dodgers.

On June 13, the LA Dodgers announced they traded Biggio from the Toronto Blue Jays, giving up minor league right-handed pitcher Braydon Fisher. The 29-year-old spent six seasons with Toronto. Biggio entered the team as a highly anticipated prospect, but he has struggled at the plate, posting a career batting average of just .227 over six seasons. His performance this season has also been lackluster, with a batting average of .200 and only 2 home runs in 44 games up to June 12.

His strength lies in his ability to play multiple defensive positions. His primary position is second base, but he can also play first base, third base, left field, and right field.

With players like third baseman Max Muncy, utility infielder/outfielder Chris Taylor, Enrique Hernandez, and Gavin Lux out due to injuries, the Dodgers needed a utility player like Biggio. The Dodgers included Biggio in the starting lineup for their home game against the Texas Rangers immediately following the trade. Biggio is set to start as the number 9, playing third base.
