Consulting firm AlixPartners predicted that one out of every three cars sold worldwide will be made in China by 2030.

AlixPartners forecasted this in a report on the 27th. The firm expects sales of Chinese cars outside of China to increase sharply from 3 million units this year to 9 million units by 2030.

Mark Wakefield, the firm’s head of automotive, said in the report, “China is the new disruptor in the industry, capable of producing vehicles with fast launch speeds to market, low purchase costs, and high efficiency, making them a must-have vehicle.”

He predicted that Chinese cars would make significant strides in all regions outside of the U.S., where a 100% tariff is imposed on Chinese electric vehicles (EV). He specifically anticipated that Chinese cars would sell well in Latin America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

He stated, “A paradigm shift is occurring in the global automotive market.”
