As the 71st anniversary of the Day of Victory in the Great Fatherland Liberation War (the signing of the Korean War armistice agreement on July 27) approaches, North Korea is heightening anti-American sentiment.

North Korean state media, Rodong Sinmun, published on the front page a letter addressed to Kim Jong Un from pro-North Korean organizations in Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Arab region, Africa, and Latin America.

These organizations claimed, “Through this platform, we assert that the hostile actions of the United States and its followers are the fundamental cause of the extreme deterioration of the situation on the Korean Peninsula. In today’s world, dominated by the logic of power, the Republic’s possession of strong military capabilities centered on nuclear force serves as a robust guarantee against the risks of new wars.”

On the third page, it was reported that a stamp exhibition celebrating the 71st anniversary of the victory in the Korean War began on July 22. The article encouraged patriotism among the residents by introducing the Exemplary Company Flag and the Exemplary Military-Civilian Medal used during the Korean War.

The fifth page reported that an international forum backing the Korean people’s rightful fight for sovereignty and peace took place in Egypt on June 25 for four days. The forum concluded by adopting a letter addressed to General Secretary Kim and issuing an Appeal to the Progressive Peoples of the World, further fueling anti-American sentiment.

On the front page, it was also reported that the National Emergency Response Committee convened a video conference on July 22 to discuss natural disaster crisis management.

The second page reported that a delegation headed by Russia’s Prosecutor General visited North Korea to enhance collaboration between the two countries’ prosecutorial bodies. Also, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Belarus is officially visiting North Korea from July 22 to July 26, following an invitation from the North Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Page four detailed regional responses to disastrous weather events. It noted the completion of the Ryong’o embankment in Mundok County, South Pyongan Province. It highlighted that North Hamgyong Province was implementing double and triple safety measures due to its many rivers and coastal geography. Additionally, the page reported that high-yield farms received awards at the Pyongbuk All-Grain Farming Summary Meeting.

The sixth page covered the news that the July 25 Third Meeting of the Central Committee of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan was held. A commentary from the Korean Central News Agency titled The Normalization of Overseas Deployments is a Prelude to Reinvasion criticized Japan’s recent mutual access agreement (RAA) with the Philippines, stating, “The international community must heighten its vigilance against the reinvasion maneuvers of Japanese reactionaries, who inflicted enormous damage on humanity last century.”
