EtcOlympic Medalists Take Selfies on the Podium for the First Time!

For the first time in history, athletes at the Paris Olympics are capturing their triumphant moments on the podium with selfies. Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition is featured at this historic event.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 29th that it will launch the Victory Selfie program in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Paris 2024 Organising Committee.

During the Olympic medal ceremonies, strict rules prohibit athletes from bringing personal items like mobile phones. Only official Olympic media are permitted to capture podium moments from a distance.

Following the medal ceremonies at the Paris Olympics, volunteers will distribute the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition to athletes. This will enable them to capture their victorious moments firsthand. The Galaxy Z Flip6’s unique foldable design allows athletes to take creative selfies from various angles.

The photos taken through the Victory Selfie at the awards podium will be seamlessly integrated into the Athlete 365 app on the Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition, which will be provided to all participating athletes at the Paris Olympics. Athletes can instantly download these photos and easily share them with their families, friends, and fans.

At the Paris Olympics, Brazilian athlete Rayssa Leal, a member of Team Samsung Galaxy who won a bronze medal in women’s street skateboarding, expressed her joy at sharing victory selfies with fans worldwide. She also thanked her family and friends for supporting her dream of winning an Olympic medal. Reflecting on the experience, she noted that achieving an Olympic medal was a dream come true. Being supported by fellow medalists at the podium was a moment where she felt a sense of camaraderie beyond competition, celebrating the spirit of sportsmanship.

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics distributed 17,000 Galaxy Z Flip6 Olympic Edition units equipped with Galaxy AI to athletes at the Samsung Olympic Experience located within the athlete village at the Paris Olympics and Paralympics in France.
