A 40-year-old U.S. police officer was caught by security agents at Incheon Airport while trying to board a flight, wearing a bracelet with a concealed knife.

At the Incheon Airport’s Terminal 2 East transfer area, security personnel discovered the officer with the bracelet knife, which had a blade measuring about 2.5 cm (approximately 1 inch) in length.

The officer had arrived from Bangkok, Thailand, on Saturday and was set to depart for Atlanta, Georgia. He explained that he wore the knife as a talisman and intended to use it for survival purposes.

South Korean authorities, assessing that the officer’s intentions were not criminal, permitted him to proceed with his travel plans. Incheon Airport authorities confiscated and disposed of the knife.
