Korean tourists have sparked controversy over defacing natural landmarks at the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, USA.

On Monday, JTBC‘s current affairs program Crime Chief reported that a Korean-American who has lived in the U.S. for around 40 years recently discovered graffiti left by Korean tourists during a visit to the park.

The graffiti, written on rocks in the Grand Canyon, included the names “Haram, Soul, Yeonseong, Yejin,” followed by “from Korea,” along with a date—August 12, just two months prior.

The nameless source, who was taking landscape photos when he spotted the Korean writing, expressed his disappointment, stating, “The thought that ‘if others are doing it, so should we’ is wrong. It was a moment that made me ashamed to be Korean.”
