EtcBig News: Kim Keon Hee Skips President Yoon's Diplomatic Journey

On Friday, South Korea’s Presidential Office announced that First Lady Kim Keon Hee will not accompany President Yoon Suk Yeol on his mid-November overseas tour.

A representative from the Presidential Office informed reporters that morning, saying, “First Lady Kim has decided not to join the upcoming tour.”

This decision is a follow-up to Yoon’s public address and press conference held the day before.

During the press conference, Yoon said, “External activities are in the public eye; therefore, I believe that if the public approves, they should proceed, and if not, they should not. Considering public opinion, I have essentially suspended such activities unless my aides and I deem them essential for diplomatic protocol or national interests.”
