On the final day of South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment trial, key ruling party lawmakers, including Na Kyung Won, Kim Gi Hyeon, and others, will attend the hearing in person. Ruling party floor leader Kwon Seong Dong is also considering whether to participate.

According to reports from the ruling party on Tuesday, lawmakers including Na Kyung Won, Kim Gi Hyeon, Yoon Sang Hyun, Cho Bae Sook, Jeong Jeom Sig, Lee In Seon, and Cho Ji Yeon will attend the Constitutional Court in Seoul’s Jongno district on Tuesday to observe the final arguments in Yoon’s impeachment trial. Around 10 ruling party lawmakers are expected to be present.

One of the attending lawmakers commented, “Since this is the final trial, I want to see how the proceedings have evolved and observe the trial as a whole.”

Kwon and other ruling party leaders are also still deliberating whether to attend. National Assembly spokesperson Park Soo Min told reporters, “The decision on attendance has not been finalized yet, and we will have to wait and see.”

The trial’s final session will examine the evidence, closing arguments from both parties, and final statements from the involved parties. Yoon and the National Assembly’s impeachment prosecutor, Justice Committee Chairman Jung Chung Rae, can make their statements without time constraints.

Yoon’s closing remarks are expected to include a public message, possibly addressing his decision to declare martial law and offering an apology to the public.
