Rodong Sinmun reported Monday that a Russian youth organization currently visiting North Korea held a friendly gathering with North Korean youth.

According to the paper, the DPRK-Russia Youth Friendship Solidarity Gathering was held on Sunday at the Central Youth Hall. Attendees included the United Russia Young Guard delegation, headed by Anton Zemidov, a member of the Coordinating Council; Moon Chol, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League; youth league officials; and university students from Pyongyang.

Chairman Moon stated that they were pleased that the Russian people and youth, under the leadership of Comrade Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, were carrying on the victorious history and traditions of overcoming the schemes of hostile forces.

He added that, as their peoples and youth shared the same lofty ideals of fighting for justice and truth, they would remain eternal comrades and allies, united in indestructible solidarity and victory.

Chairman Zemidov expressed gratitude, noting that he felt the warmth of friendship from the Korean youth during his stay and offered his deep thanks for the full support and solidarity shown toward Russia’s cause against Western hegemony and neo-colonialist practices, according to the newspaper.

He also stated that Russia would always stand together with Korean youth on the path toward true international justice and peace.

The event appears to be aimed at stabilizing public sentiment among young people following the dispatch of Russian troops abroad and strengthening ideological solidarity between North Korean and Russian youth. Although North Korea has not officially confirmed any troop deployments, it is widely believed that more than 10,000 soldiers have been sent abroad, with a second deployment reportedly taking place recently—suggesting that this is already known domestically.

North Korea and Russia have been strengthening cooperation in various areas based on the treaty signed during their June 2024 summit.
