FutureAltman’s Orb Mini Wants to Scan You Into the Future of Crypto

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s cryptocurrency-based identity verification project, World, unveiled a new device called Orb Mini on Thursday. This innovative gadget is designed to distinguish between AI and humans.

TechCrunch reports that the World’s developer, Tools for Humanity, showcased the Orb Mini at the At Last event in San Francisco. The company also plans to launch physical stores in the near future.

The World Project is developing digital human verification tools to prepare for a future where AI might become indistinguishable from humans.

The Orb device scans users’ irises, generating a unique identifier on the blockchain to differentiate between AI and humans. The newly introduced Orb Mini is more compact and portable than its predecessors. Former Apple designer Thomas Meyerhoffer reportedly contributed to its design.

Tools for Humanity aims to expand the World network across the United States. They plan to open physical stores in Austin, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco. Visitors to these locations will have the opportunity to scan their irises using the Orb device and join the World network.

According to TechCrunch, the World project has already attracted 26 million users globally, with 12 million having completed the verification process.
