Nvidia plans to collaborate with Foxconn to build an artificial intelligence (AI) factory supercomputer in Taiwan.
According to tech media outlet Engadget, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced the partnership with Foxconn on Monday during the 2025 Computex technology conference, repeatedly emphasizing that Taiwan is the core of “AI supremacy.”
Huang stated, “Taiwan is not merely building a supercomputer for the world. Foxconn, the Taiwanese government, Nvidia, and TSMC will establish the first large-scale AI supercomputer here to support Taiwan’s AI infrastructure and ecosystem.”
As part of this collaboration, Foxconn’s subsidiary Big Innovation will operate the supercomputer using 10,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs. The company plans to apply the system to smart cities, electric vehicles, and manufacturing innovation. In particular, it will support the development of connected transportation systems and advanced driver assistance and safety systems. TSMC also plans to leverage the project to accelerate its R&D efforts.
Nvidia stated that the project will significantly expand the availability of AI computing and empower local researchers and businesses.
Wu Tsung-tsong, Taiwan’s Minister of Science and Technology, said, “We aim to build an AI-centered industrial ecosystem in southern Taiwan, foster innovative research and the AI industry, and promote the everyday use of AI tools.” He added that the ministry would work with Nvidia and Foxconn to create an “AI island” equipped with smart cities.
Meanwhile, Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) plans to invest in a supercomputer to provide AI cloud computing resources across Taiwan’s technology ecosystem. Big Innovation will also participate in Nvidia’s DGX Cloud Lepton Marketplace, offering businesses and research institutions access to high-performance GPU resources.
