Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s Chief Executive Officer, has issued a scathing critique of U.S. chip export controls, cautioning that these measures are causing more harm to American According to CNBC on Wednesday, at the Computex 2025 in Taiwan, Huang revealed that U.S. chip export restrictions have slashed NVIDIA’s market share in China from 95% to 50%. He stated that this restriction ironically propels China to accelerate its chip development efforts.

Huang’s remarks come during heightened semiconductor tensions between the United States and China. The Ministry of Commerce of China has lambasted the U.S. chip policies as unwarranted interference, demanding immediate rectification. Meanwhile, the White House is gearing up to scrap the AI Diffusion Rules that former President Joe Biden implemented, with plans to introduce new regulations.

NVIDIA finds itself at the epicenter of this tech cold war. While Huang recently emphasized U.S. technological supremacy during a meeting with President Donald Trump in Saudi Arabia, he’s also maintaining ties with China. The company has acquired new premises in Shanghai, but has assured us it won’t transfer intellectual property or GPU designs.

In his testimony to Congress, Huang sounded the alarm about China’s rapid advancements in AI, framing it as a long-term competitive challenge. He highlighted Huawei’s efforts to develop advanced chips, noting that China has made remarkable strides in computing and network technology. Despite the volatile U.S.-China relations, Huang reaffirmed NVIDIA’s commitment to supporting the Chinese market.
