With the launch of the iPhone 16e replacing the iPhone SE series, industry insiders speculate that Apple is already gearing up for the iPhone 17e. On Monday, 9to5Mac reported that Apple has begun trial production of the iPhone 17e, citing Chinese IT analyst Instant Digital. Unlike the SE series, this new model is expected to be released annually.

The iPhone 17e is rumored to feature the A19 chipset, slated for the iPhone 17 series, and may incorporate a new C2 modem. If Apple includes the Dynamic Island feature, it’s likely to be a hit with consumers. Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo projects a launch date for the iPhone 17e in the first half of 2026.

Apple appears to be revamping its iPhone release strategy. The Information reports that the iPhone 18 Air, Pro, Pro Max, and foldable models are set for a fall 2026 release, while the iPhone 18 and 18e are scheduled for a spring 2027 release. This mirrors the March 2025 release of the iPhone 16e, suggesting a regular cycle for the release of e models.

Industry watchers are curious about whether Apple will maintain the $599 price point for its entry-level models or revive the iPhone mini series. Given that the iPhone 12 mini and 13 mini both debuted at $699, there’s speculation about a possible $499 iPhone mini. However, this remains purely conjectural at this point.

If the iPhone 17e is released, it’s poised to become a regular fixture in Apple’s lineup as an entry-level option, distinct from the SE series. The tech community will be watching closely to see how Apple differentiates its “e” series and integrates it with existing models.
