macOS 26 May Drop Another Intel Mac—Is Yours on the List?

As macOS 26 prepares to stop support for some of the last generation of Intel-based Macs, rumors suggest another Intel-based Mac is likely to be removed from the macOS 26 support list.

According to 9to5Mac, the 2020 13-inch MacBook Pro with two Thunderbolt ports is likely to lose support in macOS 26. This model, equipped with an older 8th-generation Intel processor, differs from its four-port counterpart. The news aligns with earlier speculation that Apple plans to end support for 2018 Mac models.

The list of devices expected to support macOS 26 includes MacBook Air (M1 and later), MacBook Pro (2020 four-port and later), iMac (2020 and later), Mac mini (M1 and later), Mac Pro (2019 and later), and all Mac Studio models.

Meanwhile, the 2018 Mac mini, 2017 iMac Pro, and 2020 Intel-based MacBook Air are likely to be left out of the macOS 26 update.

The potential exclusion of the 2020 two-port 13-inch MacBook Pro raises questions about the fate of the 2019 models. It seems improbable that Apple would support all 2019 MacBook Pros while dropping only the 2020 two-port version. However, there’s a possibility that only the 2019 16-inch and 2020 four-port 13-inch models will receive continued support, leaving other variants behind.
