Samsung Electronics’ subsidiary Harman International (Harman), which specializes in automotive and audio technologies, sold its Digital Transformation Solutions (DTS) division to Indian information technology (IT) services giant Wipro on Thursday. This strategic move enables Harman to focus on its core automotive and audio businesses. Neither company disclosed the financial terms of the deal.

Under the agreement, Wipro will assume control of 18 of Harman’s locations across the U.S., Europe, and Asia, along with a workforce of more than 5,600 employees.

By divesting the DTS division—a minor contributor to Harman’s overall revenue—the company can now concentrate on enhancing its competitive edge in the automotive and audio sectors while exploring new avenues for growth. The sale is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.

This move follows Harman’s acquisition of Masimo’s audio division for 350 million USD in May. The deal considerably strengthens Harman’s position in the high-end audio market, uniting brands such as Denon, Marantz, Polk, and Definitive Technology under the same roof as the prestigious Bowers & Wilkins (B&W).

Furthermore, in November 2023, Harman expanded its digital offerings by acquiring Roon, an advanced music management, search, and streaming platform.
