Prime Minister Kim Min-seok announced plans to visit the U.S. and Switzerland this week to discuss collaboration with heads of international organizations regarding South Korea’s bid to host the United Nations (UN) Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hub.

During the UN AI Hub Support Task Force Meeting held at the Government Seoul Complex on Tuesday, Kim stated that after concluding today’s meeting, he plans to visit the U.S. and Switzerland this week to meet with leaders of UN-related organizations and discuss cooperative measures related to the AI Hub initiative.

He added that he’ll keep the public regularly informed on specific developments as they unfold.

The government officially decided to pursue the establishment of the UN AI Hub during this meeting. The UN AI Hub aims to create a global AI collaboration platform by integrating the AI-related functions and departments of UN specialized agencies with the South Korean government and private sector.

Prime Minister Kim expressed optimism, saying that if they’re successfully host the UN AI Hub, it can share AI infrastructure and promote joint projects to contribute to solving various global challenges. He expects South Korea to play a leading role in global AI collaboration.

To advance this initiative, the government will launch the UN AI Hub Promotion Committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, to oversee and review future plans.
