On Wednesday at 8:41 p.m. (South Korean time) local time, a magnitude 2.2 earthquake occurred 35 kilometers (about 22 miles) northwest of Nangrim in North Korea’s Jagang Province.

The epicenter was located at 41.22 degrees North latitude and 126.87 degrees East longitude, with a depth of 16 kilometers (about 10 miles).

The maximum intensity recorded for this seismic event was I (1) on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale, indicating that it was imperceptible to most people and only detectable by seismographs.

The Korea Meteorological Administration reported that the earthquake was likely of natural origin and stated that it does not anticipate any damage resulting from this seismic activity.
