Daejeon University announced on Tuesday that its Seoul Oriental Hospital has been designated as a Certified Integrative Cancer Center by the Korean Society for Integrative Oncology (KSIO), recognizing its exceptional cancer treatment capabilities.

The Seoul Oriental Hospital, through its East-West Cancer Center, has been at the forefront of providing comprehensive cancer care. Their innovative approach combines traditional treatments with integrative therapies to mitigate the side effects of conventional cancer treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, while also working to prevent metastasis and recurrence.

Led by Cho Jong Kwan, a renowned expert in cancer treatment, the hospital has earned significant patient trust through its holistic care. This approach focuses on enhancing patients’ immune systems and improving their overall physical and psychological well-being.

The Daejeon Oriental Hospital, established in 1991, is South Korea’s first university hospital-based integrative cancer center. It has leveraged years of academic research and clinical expertise to develop a state-of-the-art, patient-tailored multidisciplinary treatment system.

This comprehensive approach includes a carefully structured cancer-fighting diet, advanced nutritional management, and a variety of therapeutic programs designed to support patients’ mental and physical health.

Dr. Lee Nam Heon, Director of the East-West Cancer Center at Daejeon University’s Seoul Oriental Hospital, said the certification serves as an important milestone validating the hospital’s commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based integrative treatment and confirming it is on the right path in cancer care.
