Christopher Nolan’s epic Odyssey has dominated the box office for six straight days, solidifying its reign at the top.
The Korean Film Council’s integrated ticketing system reported on Tuesday that Odyssey drew in a whopping 257,625 viewers on Monday alone, maintaining its stronghold on the number one spot. The film’s total audience has now reached an impressive 2,132,446.
Since its release on August 5, Odyssey has been unshakeable at the top of the charts. It blazed past the one million viewer mark on the 9th, just four days after its premiere, and surged beyond two million on Monday, its fifth day in theaters.
Odyssey follows the legendary hero Odysseus (Matt Damon) as he embarks on a perilous journey home to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) in the wake of the decade-long Trojan War. This latest masterpiece from visionary director Christopher Nolan, the mind behind blockbusters like Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet, and Oppenheimer, has captivated over 36 million viewers in South Korea alone.
Hot on its heels, Spider-Man: Brand New Day swung into second place, reeling in 174,615 viewers on the same day and bringing its total audience to a spectacular 6,091,016.
Rounding out the top three, the animated adventure Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone hooked 19,409 viewers, pushing its cumulative audience to 453,215.
