North Korea’s ‘Trash Balloon’ Lands, Causes Fire in South Korea—Get the Details

A balloon launched by North Korea fell onto the rooftop of a multi-family house in the Deogyang District of Goyang City, causing a fire.

According to the fire department, the incident occurred at 2:36 PM yesterday when the balloon landed on the fourth-floor rooftop of a building in Naeyu-dong.

The fire department dispatched 11 vehicles and 28 personnel, extinguishing the flames in about 25 minutes, with no reported injuries.

The fire charred the rooftop surface approximately 6 square meters (64 square feet).

On the morning of the previous day, North Korea released multiple balloons carrying trash targeted toward South Korea.
