Kumho Tire announced on the 28th that its Ecsta Sport A/S tire received an award at Japan’s Good Design Award 2026.
The Good Design Award is an international design competition organized by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) since 1957. It is considered one of the world’s four major design awards, alongside Germany’s iF Design Award and Red Dot Design Award and the International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in the United States.
With this latest honor, Kumho Tire has won recognition from all four of the world’s major design awards this year, demonstrating its global design competitiveness.
The award-winning Ecsta Sport A/S is an all-season ultra-high-performance tire designed to accommodate the characteristics of both internal combustion engine vehicles and electric vehicles.
Kim Young-jin, executive vice president and head of Kumho Tire’s Research and Development Division, said, “Winning all four of the world’s major design awards is a meaningful achievement that demonstrates international recognition of the design capabilities Kumho Tire has built over the years. We will continue to enhance our brand value in global markets through innovative technology and distinctive design.”
Meanwhile, Kumho Tire reported consolidated operating profit of 182.2 billion won (about $121.5 million) in the second quarter of this year, up 4% from the same period a year earlier.
