On Tuesday, Yeo Han Koo, head of the Office of International Trade and Investment at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, emphasized the importance of a unified government response amid growing uncertainties in the U.S.-Korea trade environment.
Chairing the 54th Trade Promotion Committee meeting, Yeo urged relevant departments to work closely together to ensure the stable management of key non-tariff issues and prevent their linkage to tariff measures. He stressed the need for ongoing communication with U.S. officials to find mutually beneficial solutions for both nations.
The meeting focused on sharing the results of U.S. consultations among government agencies and on discussing strategies to maintain stable trade relations, particularly regarding the implementation of non-tariff sector plans.
The Ministry announced plans to accelerate follow-up actions on strategic U.S. investments, including the Special Act on U.S. Investment. They committed to rigorously monitoring the implementation of the non-tariff sector and to engaging in further talks with the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to refine implementation plans.
