Samyang Corporation is set to make waves at the world’s largest natural food expo by showcasing its cutting-edge artificial intellignece (AI) integrated sugar reduction solutions, aiming to capture a larger share of the global food ingredient market.

The company announced on Thursday that it will participate in the 2023 Natural Products Expo West (NPEW) in Anaheim, California, from Wednesday through Saturday.

Marking its third consecutive year at the expo, Samyang will spotlight its high-performance food ingredients and innovative AI-powered 3S (Smart·Simple·Successful) Sugar Reduction Solution.

The 3S solution is a groundbreaking program that leverages AI to suggest optimal ingredient blends when users input target sugar content and cost parameters during product development. It utilizes Samyang’s specialty ingredients, including allulose, a low-calorie sugar substitute, and resistant maltodextrin, a soluble dietary fiber, to create tailored recipes. This technology enables clients to significantly reduce product development time and costs.

At the event, Samyang will demonstrate the efficacy of its ingredients through tastings, including caramel made with 100% allulose instead of traditional corn syrup. Allulose, a key focus for Samyang, provides 70% of sugar’s sweetness while boasting zero calories. Resistant maltodextrin, another featured ingredient, supports digestive health and helps regulate blood sugar levels.

Following the U.S. exhibition, Samyang plans to expand its global footprint by participating in other major international food expos, including IFIA in Japan this May and IFT in the U.S. in July.

Jeong Ji-seok, head of Samyang’s Food Business Unit, stated that they’re strategically increasing the engagement with clients across various categories, including beverages and bakery products, in response to the growing sugar reduction trend. The goal is to strengthen the position in local markets through the customized solutions.
