IU has disclosed that she suffers from Skeeter Syndrome.

On Thursday, the YouTube channel YooInRadio posted a video titled “Meet the One I Should: Let’s Stop Talking So Much!” where IU chats with Yoo In Na.

During the conversation, Yoo In Na played a balance game with IU, asking, “Would you rather hear the sound of a mosquito while trying to sleep or wake up covered in mosquito bites?”

In response, IU said, “Both are absolutely infuriating, but maybe it’s better not to get bitten at all.”

“As you know, mosquito bites cause health issues for me. When I get bitten, I develop large swelling,g like a hunchback, to the extent that I need to take antibiotics. The bites ooze pus, and it’s painful,” she added.

IU explained further, “It’s like a mosquito allergy.” After some online research, the two discovered that the condition is Skeeter Syndrome.

Skeeter Syndrome is a condition where severe allergic reactions occur after mosquito bites, leading to swelling, heat, redness, itching, and pain.

IU shared more about her experience, saying, “Parts of my skin that were bitten by mosquitoes when I was younger and reacted badly are still dead. Those areas do not feel pain even if pricked with a needle. This is why I hate mosquitoes more than cockroaches.”
