Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics has re-signed with the team for an astronomical contract.

ESPN reported on the 2nd that Tatum had signed a 5-year contract with the Celtics that amounted to a total salary of $314 million.

This contract reportedly includes provisions that allow the player to choose his team after a year and receive financial compensation upon transferring to another team.

Tatum was selected by the Celtics as the 3rd overall pick in the 1st round of the 2017 NBA Draft and has since become the team’s ace.

Tatum played a pivotal role in Boston’s victory over the Dallas Mavericks in last season’s championship finals, securing their 18th overall title. He averaged 22.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 7.2 assists.

Tatum has been selected for the NBA All-Star five times since his debut. He also played a crucial role in winning the gold medal as a member of the U.S. national team at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and is also planning to participate in the Paris Olympics.
