Hanwha Group (Hanwha) announced on Tuesday that it achieved the highest rating, Leadership A, in the 2024 Climate Change Response Assessment by the global evaluation organization Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP).

Hanwha improved from last year’s Leadership A- rating to the top-tier Leadership A, garnering international recognition for its efforts in addressing global climate change.

The CDP, a non-profit international organization based in the UK, requires environmental disclosure from major global companies and analyzes and evaluates the data.

Alongside the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), the CDP assessment is considered one of the most credible sustainability indicators. It rates companies based on their climate strategies and overall implementation efforts, with ratings ranging from Leadership A to Disclosure F across eight levels.

In a related achievement, Hanwha was named the Carbon Management Sector Leader in the industrial goods category at the 2024 CDP Korea Awards in April, hosted by the CDP Korea Committee. This marks the company’s second consecutive year receiving this accolade.

Hanwha has proactively engaged in climate change initiatives, including direct Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and financial impact analyses based on climate scenarios. The company’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Committee, operating under the board of directors, reviews and manages medium to long-term strategies and eco-friendly policies, reinforcing its commitment to ESG management.

A spokesperson for Hanwha stated that this result demonstrates Hanwha’s dedication to carbon neutrality and sustainable management practices. The spokesperson added that the company will continue to actively participate in global climate response efforts and strengthen its ESG management initiatives.
